Rest and Review:

December 24

So then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God; for he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own.
—Hebrews 4:9-10

We all have gifts and talents far beyond what we use, but many of us are so worn out that we don’t feel like doing anything. Even God rested from all of His labors, not because He was tired, but just to enjoy His creation (See Genesis 2:1– 3). Stop working all the time, and enjoy yourself.

Even the land needs to rest every several years to produce good crops. If you don’t rest, you are going to cut down your production and stifle your creativity. You don’t have to work at God’s plan for you; He will cause it to come to pass (See Philippians 1:6). Rest in Him.

New YearS!

I have three resolutions:

1. Scrapbook. b/c I suck at making myself sit down and actually do it!
2. Flow yoga! (Every wed!)
3. Learn to make some badass appetizers & drink more wine ;)

Ohhhh my gosh, hello www.foodchannel.com and http://www.foodnetwork.com/ =)

I'm excited for Christmas. Excited to hang out with my family, to eat good food, to have a break from work, and for our traditional eggs benedict at my parent’s house! Pretty sure the snow got me extra excited yesterday!

Abby News:

Here was my weekend in a nutshell:

It’s snowing Bitches!!!!

Over here in my neck of the woods, its snow packed and icy! This kind of weather is really helping the Christmas feel & I was only five minutes late to work today. GO ME! I’ve been really blessed this past week, my student I’m training brought me homemade hummus, and it was like the best HUMMUS I’ve ever had in my life (and trust me I’ve tasted a lot of hummus), A few Christmas parties, purchased MGMT last night, and I took my last final. I always forget to post pictures of my life, and then I realize everything I do is spur of the moment; and that means I never carry my camera. I'm hardly home to even charge my camera. However, I do have my crappy cell cam so I will start sharing those pics =)
3 more xmas gifts to buy~

Have a grand day,

Counting the months - - - - -

This might be a good investment- http://www.knockknock.com/

The world is cruel lately just to my friends, and sometimes I just wanna slap these little sticky notes all over a select few faces. You know the people that hate their life so bad they try drag others down with them. This one person I know is just a down right horrible person who thinks they're god's gift to the world. I wish their reality check would bounce.

Anyways, Thanksgiving was lovely- I had it with my parents and then we trotted over to our neighbors, I seriously have gained 5lbs. I've been non-stop relaxing, eating, and re-organizing my goals. Its nice to have a break every now and then. The new paper crafts and Ready Made just came and I'm ready dig in and read them.
P.s. KU beat Mizzou ;)
Good game!

re-connecting

You should never read the book and then see the movie...I was really disappointed with the Twilight movie, and before everyone gets huffy puffy with me...the group I went with totally agreed. Hey! What can I say except the characters are way cooler in my head. Cheesy but overall good....but hello, Edward is some serious eye candy.

Thursday after dance I went to the Orpheum and watched It's a wonderful life, good stuff.

I spent the whole weekend at book stores, writing a paper, a Christmas tree lighting, Jason's deli, eating a lot in general, I overdosed on Starbucks, went to church, and just relaxed. It was lovely. Did I mention a bubble bath, ya that too.

Cheers to the start of a great week and a 3 day work week-

I'm pumped for Twilight tonight.

Have a great weekend,

make sense to me.

So life is good, I’ve been busy playing on the weekends to post all the grand stuff that has been happening to me, new people, new experiences, and new directions that I’ve finally found.

Yesterday was the perfect day minus not being able to watch the rain all day. It has to be one of my favorite things to indulge myself in, rain activities, such as: driving in the rain, reading, drinking coffee at some hidden away coffee house. The usual life of Abby I guess, but misty rain makes the day so much better…. sooooo much more inspiring. Sometimes, I secretly wish I lived in Seattle.

Ok, enough about rain. Yesterday, I went to a small group at my new church, I invited a friend and (insert friends name here- because I honestly don’t know if this friend wants their name on my blog yet; talk about shy right?! ) Anyway “friend” actually came! I wasn’t going to invite this “friend” because normally a big no would just pop out, but a surprising yes came out instead. It was fun and after we stopped by Barnes and Noble. I had so much homework to finish that I had to make us leave quickly. That could totally be my new routine on Mondays. Love it.

Matt Wertz new song -5:19 totally rocks, go check it out.
Some sweet stuff you need to check out: http://www.gettotallyrad.com/#rockin-photoshop-actions-7a1d9 copy and paste baby, copy and paste.
And some crazy fun photographs you can find here: http://www.theblogisfound.com/
Influence the new book by MK and Ashley Olsen is out, I flipped through it last night, I can’t wait to order my own copy.
Ku is having a fashion show and guess who is the guest judge?? Christian Siriano, who was winner of season four project runway!

have a lovely day,

here are my thoughts and Ben's:

"Applause waits on success." - Benjamin Franklin

I will applause after the success...Obama has showed us nothing yet, he hasn't changed anything...he's just talked it up; he says he's is going to change- OK, lets see it. I'll give him a chance because that's what I do when I don't have any other choice.

I voted for McCain, I started out pro Obama, then I did some research. Things CHANGED for me.

I really don't want to talk smack on anyone, I just don't have a good feeling about this, and I pray to GOD that I am wrong.

My other thoughts: ALI EDWARDS, she opened her blog up on this topic and quickly closed the comments on her page. Then picked which comments she wanted to leave both good/bad. Not trying to be mean but its a blog let them post the good stuff, the bad stuff, the ugly. Who cares?! If you were trying to avoid the subject; you wouldn't have posted about it it to begin with and closed the comments before you posted it. We don't have to agree on everything, people need to grow up, be respectful and move on. Some people even posted about being disappointed, they thought it was a scrapbooking blog....silly them. So let them leave your blog, move on.

ah.

Venting I am, but just because I don't agree with her doesn't make her a bad person and it certainly doesn't mean I'm going to stop visiting her site. COME ON PEOPLE.

So my message to both Ali and bloggers on her site:
Ali- leave your comments up, ALL of them, its fun to read everyone's thoughts on it.
Bloggers that comment: be nice, but say how you feel.

Everything does happen for a reason, good, bad, evil, presidents, war, winners, losers. Only God knows, you just have to see his red flags, the warning signs.

This election has changed my views on America, on several things, more than anything I'm ready to start living life full of adventure and debt free.

Life really is 2 short, stop complaining.

So on a positive note: I voted For McCain, He's a good guy, old ;) but genuine. I'm not going to say anything else negative about this subject. I'm walking away and taking some action on my own life with the logo "change". Change, not for Obama, just change for my and your life. You have to make the positive change, start living it to the fullest.

November 04: vote
The best way you have of voicing your opinion in a way that can matter. Nothing's perfect, and there's always going to be mistakes, but there is simply no excuse for not casting a ballot for what you believe in. Take the time to understand the issues and then take the time to vote. Don't let people who aren't going to be around four years from now decide your future? Complaining without voting is worse than any hanging Chad.
My conscience is clear because I took the time to vote. Don't worry about rocking the vote, just vote!

I’ve been busy, out of town, and enjoying life to its fullest. I’ve turned my brain off “thinking mode” and I’m just enjoying life like I use to; happy go lucky version.

I have several emails I need to reply to (SORRY TO ALL) I’ve just taken a break from the computer; it tends to sucks up all of my time if I’m not careful.

I have some great fall photo’s I took this weekend….

I’m looking into buying a classy, fun, hopefully old desk =) I can repair and make it look amazing.

Don’t forget to vote-

inspiration of the day:

and

maybe....

and most importantly-

I need more ugly flannel shirts...I hear they're making a comeback ;)
I could use some more Jeans.
and lets not forget you can't ever have 2 many sweaters.
If I can ever track down my camera that is floating around I have a ton of fall 2008 pics to post.

I'm pretty worthless on posting my own pics from my camera; just in case you have yet to notice.

So, check out this hot newbie on the comic strip scene. Meet Mamet (above) , the star of the comic strip DeFlocked.

Meet Jeff:

Jeff Corriveau is the mad genius behind this super rad comic strip. What he doesn’t know is I’m secretly obsessed with lambs to begin with, and I’m almost positive I haven’t posted about my secret obsession. ;) Its true, I will have to show you a pic of Miley my “pet” lamb later on. So, reading about this out spoken funny lamb hit home.

He sent me an email about DeFlocked and I honestly can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this. I promptly clicked on his website and was instantly addicted to his quirky humor.

Here are some of my favorites:

Please do me a favor and Jeff a favor and vote for his awesome Comic Strip HERE, So I can continue to read it in The Wichita Eagle on a daily basis.

ROCK THE VOTE FOR DEFLOCKED!

friday post.

I seem to post a lot of shit and cool things I find while surfing; Oh, I don't know every...Friday! I also like to post at least twice! So, here I am getting ready to leave work, paper work is done, office is already closed, but "they" aka "work" always wants me to hang around until 130 or 2. So I can pick up my 40 hours and also go out on stat draws if they're short. blahhhh because work is work. Just kidding it's not that bad!

I Ordered some amazon book goodies and they finally arrived. I will be reading twilight later, and possibly some homework.

I'm really struggling paying off this 1500 debt I have with Wsu along with some other bills. I got hit with my surgery bill which really does have to be paid stat! Its so frustrating, I'm so poor....and I miss spending my money on fun things like uggs! That's pretty much the only negative thing in my life right now.

Off I go to make my list of things to do before Lawrence in the fall. I'm planning a mini vacay in April.....a cheap mini vacay that is! I want to add tattoos, yummy pizza, a quick Alaska trip ;), moving into the basement, and painting it lime green on that list.

peace!

answers

I just had a complete stranger walk into my office and give me some amazing advice about life. Just a random patient who opened up about his own personal life and some advice about marriage and growing up, and to do things when you’re ready no matter what your choices may be, even if it’s not marriage. The goals you strive for and the experiences you want.

It was refreshing and it hit me so hard because I’ve been thinking about stuff like this lately. I even blogged about it earlier today.

It gave me chills after he left.

I thank God for the little sign he sent today, even though I could probably take it a million different ways, I’m going to go with my first instinct and run with it.

Run free.

list.

So, I've been making a lot of list's lately. Just to figure out what I need to do and what I want to do. Out weighing everything, everyone, good's, bad's, the basic plan,my plan. I'm so restless and outgoing I tend to do things on the spur of the moment rather than thinking it all the way Through. However, I do have this little voice telling me to wait, wait for the right time. Get your shit together, then do it.

Things will fall into place; and seriously for me, it usually always falls into place. Time just sucks. Time has taught me so much. sometimes you just aren't ready, life has a way of keeping you here. I'm getting ready to plan this huge move, I tend to get mad at myself and think why didn't I do this five years ago? SERIOUSLY, why did it take a whole five years to think about it, forget about it, re-think about it? The only answer I can come up with is one: I wasn't ready, and two I didn't even like Ku five years ago.

Things change, you change, you grow.

Lawrence is a magical place for me.

I've also been thinking even if it doesn't work out, there's a reason. There is always going to be a reason and I've really enjoyed all my time spent here. I wouldn't take it back or change things. I'm thankful, I'm happy, I'm going to be content whatever is in store for my crazy future.

I have some great plans up my sleeve.

black hole.

Almost every other Monday I'm bummed.

Uh, because it's Monday.

WTF MONDAYS??!!!?!?!

Hatem'.

I hate getting back into the groove of the week.

I hate that its dark outside, smells like rain, and I'm stuck in my office. I took a walk over lunch just should I could be more depressed about this sore subject. ;) SEE, its always the perfect weather, the kind I love when I'm at work. I was hoping to find an amazing red tree to take some pics of....notta.

-I miss my old friends.

-I miss being crazy.

-I miss my overload of energy that I lack now.

-I wish I was in Cali.

-I wish that I didn't want to be in Cali and maybe I'd be more content.

-I want to take a long vacation.

blah.

the next thing on my hippie list

scratchy.

ScRatChy-ScrAtchy-Pretty much how my throat, voice, and head feels.

I feel like crap!

My room is a mess, I wish I had a maid.

Started watching the graduate....but it just stopped in the middle of the movie. wtf?! It is seriously cheesy and funny, so far with no plot but sex and graduating college to move on to grad school, do they call this movie a classic? I kinda dig it the cheesy part, don't tell anyone.

Just in generally really bored and trying not to spend any money b/c I have my surgery to pay off and school, that and Christmas is coming around. Which makes my life boring, but I really don't need any more crap or clothes. Except for this new Ku hoodie I found at campus cloth.

Ok, off to fix the scratched graduate cd, and hopefully a nap.

I've sugared out of coffee,

XXX

I went shopping with my mom all day, nothing really got accomplished except for some new house slippers, brown wrapping paper, and some mini brown cards to make Christmas cards w/, coffee drinking, oh and a new can of burst bees cuticle cream.

My throat hurts, I’m pretty much ignoring everyone this weekend to get some down time in, I just want to rest…I’m feeling the ick come on; I just hope it doesn’t turn into strep throat.

My life is pretty chill and no drama lately, just getting rid of stuff to take to the goodwill.

P.S. I can’t stop listening to the new Jacks Mannequin CD. The past week my favorite song has been Caves & Miss California.

life.

I'm almost recovered but not eating tacos yet!

This weekend was filled with lots of fall goodies.
-KU football game
-almost making it to CKC convention in Kc....
-A badass pirate hotel room at the chanute avalon
-Cotton Candy Ice cream at my favorite place in Lawrence.
-A nice sunburn on my nose?!
-Some new clogs at a vintage store. So, the clogs not so vintage but new!!!

It's been very rainy Monday & Tuesday.
It only rains when I have to go to work.
I beg mother nature for one weekend, just one; to rain cats & dogs all weekend long.

the way i see it #267

Music can lift us out of depression or move us to tears--it is a remedy, a tonic, orange juice for the ear. But for many of my neurological patients, music is even more--it can provide access, when when no medication can, to movement to speech, to life. for them, music is not a luxury, but a necessity.

Heading up to Kansas City tonight, going to the KU game tomorrow I think, and stopping by CKC after?! Hope so....and I hope I run into the all time famous Cathy Zielske.

Listen to Jacks Mannequin again, so refreshing.

My jaw is swollen again, I took it a little overboard teaching dance last night. Not cool.

Gotta get busy, make something, eat, leave.

Ready for a break.

lovely.

Just my thoughts:

I was driving to work this morning airport road (which is my favorite choice while driving to work), watching the sun rise, windows down, feeling the breeze, jacks mannequin's new cd playing in the background...I felt totally content. Totally confident that change was going to come, soon. When I say soon, SOON as in ready to finish out my job until summer, add some more hours to my school schedule in the spring, and move. I'm trying to weigh everything out and decide whats best: move to Lawrence, or stay here and finish school. Its a big decision. I have a lot of choices to make. I've been trying to think positive because I might have to leave some things behind, some friends, family, and make a new life and that is just plain scary. I love adventures, music, KU, school, people, books, culture. Each time I go to Lawrence it feels like my second home, it just lacks my family and friends. I wish I could say I should have just picked up moved, went away to college when I was 18; like everyone else. I could have have, I didn't want to miss out on teaching dance, family stuff, and I didn't want to live in dorms or have room mates right away.

I don't regret anything. I'm happy with all of the decisions made, all of the memories good and bad. I've grown & now I think I'm ready. Ready to finish, ready to graduate, ready for more fun, more great life experiences. I sound like I'm really old and I've wasted a lot of time;p but I'm only twenty three. ha.

I'm just ready, ready for a break, ready for change. Ready to have more time for stuff like scrap booking. I dream about it, but on the list of things to do, its last.

I'm having some minor surgery tomorrow. I'm now feeling very confident and at ease about it, I won't talk about how unsure I was feeling before. I bought two books yesterday to help pass the time for recovery.

Click on the pic to head to the Poppy Talk blog.

I'm also a big fan of Halloween. Dressing up is so much fun! I love looking at costumes online, I want to be ummmm...everything?! I've been checking into costumes like Alice in Wonderland, The Queen of hearts, a bunny (just a mask, see below), a pumpkin, a witch, Jack Sparrow (see the cute painted face below too), Frankenstein's Bride, a mad scientist. The list goes on!! I don't really have any plans for going out on halloween like I did last year, I think we're going to go to The Orpheum and catch old halloween flicks...very low keyed, and no costume needed...but hello Halloween is on a friday this year!!!

I will leave you with some uplifting Dr. Seuss quotes that have really inspired me this week!

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.
-Dr. Seuss

Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.
- Dr. Seuss

You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.
-Dr. Seuss

Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.
